It is a matter of great pleasure for me to be able to communicate
to you through the medium of this online portal for District Tirap. This website
is a genuine attempt on the part of the District Administration to connect with
the people of Tirap, and at the same time, disseminate information about the District
outside.

The problems facing our District are not hidden from anyone.
The District has the poorest socio-economic indicators within the State of Arunachal
Pradesh. Tough terrain, unfavorable climatic conditions, lack of electronic connectivity
and poor infrastructure make any developmental initiative, a lot more difficult
to achieve. Further, the District is also plagued by the problem of insurgency which
makes it difficult to take fruits of development to remote areas. But with great
problems come great challenges. This website was developed with a similar challenge
of taking Administration close to people in difficult working conditions.

The website provides comprehensive details about the District,
including physiographical and demographical details as well as the cultural and
social heritage of the District. Details of administrative history and present day
functioning of all Departments have been included. We have taken great care to develop
detailed circle level maps of the District and the same are also available on the
website.

The website has a section where anyone can directly write to
the Deputy Commissioner and all such correspondences will be directly and personally
read by DC Tirap and will be answered within a week (both electronically and by
post). Thus, the citizens no longer need to travel long distances and come to District
HQ or wait for the officer to submit their grievance. The citizens can also know
the status of the application (for ST certificate / PRC / ILP / Income certificate
/ I-card etc) submitted at the Jan-suvidha center online.

The latest daily news from the District and all important Govt.
orders / circulars will be uploaded on this site regularly. This will help people
from outside the District know of the progress that is taking place in the District.
All Govt. tenders will also be uploaded on this site for greater transparency and
ensuring greater participation.

Lastly, the website also has a beautifully designed photo gallery
which will not only showcase the scenic beauty of Tirap, but also the culture, festivals
and life-style of the residents and highlights of important events in the District.

However we also realize that developing this website alone
will not serve any purpose unless its accessible to the people of the District.
For this, we are developing a project for providing internet connectivity at Circle
Level and Block Level.

I congratulate the District Unit of NIC Tirap for designing
and coming up with this state-of-the-art dynamic website. Sh Yogesh Yadav, DIO
and his team have done a praiseworthy job of developing this website within a short
period inspite of many adverse situations and difficulties. This website will not
only serve as a portal for information dissemination, but also be a platform for
providing many online citizen centric services in future. This will help eliminate
the physical distances between the citizenry and the District Administration and
let the Govt. reach the doorstep of people.
