Khonsa, August 14, 2025 — In solemn remembrance of the victims of the 1947 Partition of India, the Tirap District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), organized the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall in Khonsa.
The event aimed to honor the memory of those who lost their lives and to acknowledge the immense suffering endured during one of the largest mass migrations in human history. A poignant PowerPoint presentation was showcased, depicting the harrowing experiences of millions who were displaced and the profound impact on the nation’s fabric.
The commemoration was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tana Bapu, Heads of Departments, administrative officers, and government employees. Their collective presence underscored the community’s commitment to remembering the past and fostering unity.
Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, observed annually on August 14, was instituted by the Government of India in 2021 to serve as a reminder of the need to eliminate social divisions and promote harmony. The Tirap District’s observance aligns with nationwide efforts to reflect on this significant chapter in India’s history.
